LIFESTYLE BALANCE PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT ONE STOP JOB MARKET

(Salisbury) -- The Wicomico County Health Department is pleased to announce that Lifestyle Balance, a diabetes prevention program, will be offered at a new location on Wednesdays beginning March 25, 2015 from 12:45 – 1:45 p.m. Sessions will be held at the One Stop Job Market at 31901 Tri-County Way- Suite 110 Room 012, Salisbury, MD (off of Route 50 across from Wor-Wic Community College.)

“Nearly 10% of the U.S. population has diabetes, and as many as 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes in 2050, if current trends continue,” says Lori Brewster, Health Officer for Wicomico County. Diabetes contributes to heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and lower extremity amputations. “1 in 10 healthcaredollars is spent treating diabetes and its complications.”

“Trained coaches will help participants learn to make lifestyle changes such as eating healthier and being more physically active, which will help them lose weight and reduce their risk of diabetes and other chronic diseases,” says Mrs. Brewster, Health Officer for Wicomico County. “There is no cost for this prevention program.”

For more information, or to find out if you are eligible for the program, call the Wicomico County Health Department at 410-334-3480. Registration deadline is March 18, 2015.

Sounds like a very worthwhile program. Are there buses running out there?
