Walmart does the same thing. There are some deals at Sam's but only on certain items.
Today's advertising is all about fooling the public.
Today's smart shopper should know enough to do the math, and not just assume (like they want you to) that because you're at Sam's the price is going to be better than elsewhere.
They are frequently higher at Sam's.. sometimes even higher than Walmart!
And you PAY for the privilege of getting ripped off like that!
Of course they do the same thing. Sam's Club is owned by Walmart.
Here's a clue, their bulk Deals rarely ever were a savings.
They'd bundle two pkgs and act like it was a big savings... Except the pkgs were smaller than normal and the "big Savings" really actually cost more per ounce than two pkgs of the normal size.
I had a Sams Club Membership for one year, back in 1997. That was enough. Not worth the drive across town. Not worth fighting the crowds to save no money. What a great scam, though. Getting people to pay for the privilege of paying more in shittier conditions.
Buyer beware! Retail sees its customers as lemmings to be easily manipulated. And they are correct, most of the time. They have the research and statistics to back it up.
Ever since SAMS CLUB got rid of the 10/15 cent discount i stopped going and the yearly fee is ridiculous.
They never have been deals, just bigger packages. The walmart savings catcher app is a joke now too.
For every one person that catches the lie there are 20 that don't.
I gave up my membership several years back and am glad I did.
