UCLA cancels $3-million research gift from Sterling Foundation

UCLA will return $425,000 recently donated by the Donald T. Sterling Charitable Foundation for kidney research and will cancel an agreement that would have brought Sterling’s gift to $3 million over seven years, the university announced Tuesday.

The university also denied Sterling's previous boasts that his donation and pledge were supposed to lead UCLA to name a lab after him and his wife.

“Mr. Sterling’s divisive and hurtful comments demonstrate that he does not share UCLA’s core values as a public university that fosters diversity, inclusion and respect. For those reasons, UCLA has decided to return Mr. Sterling’s initial payment of $425,000 and reject the remainder of a $3-million pledge he recently made to support basic kidney research by the UCLA Division of Nephrology,” UCLA spokeswoman Carol Stogsdill said in a statement.

The decision was announced soon after the NBA announced sanctions against Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, for recorded comments about African Americans.

You jerks are making a big deal out of nothing. I listened to the whole thing and nothing he said was racist.

That Homo basketball player with AIDS just wants to buy his basketball team at a reduced price so he can be a big time team owner like his racist buddy Michael Jordan.

If we was racist why did he date a mixed woman? Give me a break.

12:36-My guess is that people just like being mad about something. How this whole thing plays out in court will be fascinating. The judge and jury will be instructed to completely ignore the Constitution while making their decision.

Once again the Obama butt kissing media makes a mountain out of a mole hill. Is it a crime not to like people of a certain race? If it is, then 80% of Blacks and Whites are criminals. I am getting so tired of the politically correct thought police. I think the MSM (liberal media) is racist and bigoted against white or heterosexual or conservative men. It's time to boycott them.

This kind of thing has been around since the original seven tribes. Read the bible and you will fing more degrading things than this. And you all call him God.

OK, I'm going to chime in here.

First of all, I listened to everything he said and in NO way, shape or form was this man out of line or disrespectful.

The LIBERAL agenda is so screwed up. To take this as an example, for Oprah to claim it is a PLANTATION mentality, these are the RACISTS.

I have sat around MANY Eastern Shore gatherings where MANY people would have used the N-Word. While I CRINGE hearing people do so, I simply walk away.

However, to allow the MSM to continue to run with this crap is OUT OF LINE.

What is most disturbing is that UCLA has made the decision to jump on the PC bandwagon at the price of limiting medical research.

I don't really care about Mr. Sterling or the NBA, but this incident is just plain creepy. This guy expressed an opinion in a private conversation and is now being pilloried for speech that is not politically acceptable. He has not adhered to the established group-think and will be punished until he is re-educated. How freaking Bolshevik can this country get?

Yes and add that Jackson and Sharpton and Obama's preacher can openly, over a microphone and on TV, make all kinds of white racist's remarks and they are still doing there thing and it's all OK??????? Something is truly wrong.
