What did the governor do just wake up? Must have because If he had been as ""on top of things""" as he is with this business our numbers on the Eastern Shore would have been so much lower. So many including those in health care have been saying since March ( yes over 2 months now) that the the poultry processing plants needed to be focused on. A lot work in DE and live in MD. That it never crossed the governor's mind to focus on that industry is beyond comprehension and shows just how he didn't surround himself with true experts.

We all give a hard time, but it is truly unfair some can open and some cannot. I personally feel it is to eary to open, but it isn't fair that others can and others cannot. First of all, I have had someone else moderating comments. I want everyone to see that there are some very hateful people out there who wish only the worst for me and that's cool. However, it's not about me. It's about my staff and bringing them back. What I did was perfectly legal. The title should be changed and I will do so tomorrow because while I stated Hogan shut me down, the truth of the matter is we voluntarily chose tom do so and I will explain that in full tomorrow. At this point I'm very tired after two days of a lot of work only to have to shut everything down. I will say this. I'm extremely proud of Worcester County and their support and again I'll explain in great detail tomorrow. This is a lot bigger then you think. We followed the letter of the law, trust me on that. It is Time To Reopen. There are those in businesses like the nail salons, hair salons, tattoos etc who while there shops are closed down haven't missed a beat. They are either going to people's homes or clients to their's. This isn't happening just here or even just in MD but nationwide.

As a life long resident of Worcester County whose family has been here for generations I am heart sick to see people turning on each other, turning people in who are trying to make a living for themselves and others to authorities and spewing vitriol toward OC businesses in general ( no, I am not an OC resident or business owner or employee- I live in the often ignored lower end of the County, am fortunate to still have my job.) I don't own a damn thing because I focused my efforts on investing in my children but I certainly do not envy those who have been gifted with the savvy & courage to start their own business & build their wealth. If we didn't have OC tourism we would be as poor as Somerset. I looked it up and 14 out of the 17 largest non government employers in the County are in Ocean City and service the tourism industry according to the Maryland Commerce Dept. website. Of course, by far, the largest employer here is County government itself, but you can't get those numbers on line- only personnel budget totals as far as I can find. It goes without saying, I would assume, that government employees do not grow the economy!
Lastly, I would like to say, that religion, entertainment, sports and the arts are essential to quality of life and am very unhappy with these things being delayed as "non essential". I applaud Carribbean Joe's for attempting to bring some joy to customers & employ some musicians. I am glad I am older, settled and boring so I don't miss these things but feel sorry for the young people who I guess are going to be expected to work, do on line classes and stay home for a disease that by & large doesn't even affect them. My children were very involved in all of these types of extra curriculars, it made them better human beings. So glad they are all out of school and moved away.

9:43am - ain't that the truth. This is going to be an interesting next 5 to 15 days. And I saw so many people had a whole bunch of family members over for Mother's day.
Too many people thinking carryout/delivery is safe.
I go out every 8-9 days to one place for supplies. (and it's well spaced out and I use my phone app to pay) I wear eye protection (most important) and shower as soon as I get home.
Any mail/deliveries I get sit for 3 days in sunlight before I open.
No law degree here buddy just common sense and some research! If you really want to voice something you should try it sometime! I hate what’s going on but everything the Governor is doing is going to happen his way and there will not be a damn thing any one of you or your lawyers are going to be able to do about it.

Hogan better be careful, he is over stepping his bounds and this is why he is being sued. Separation of powers! One SHALL not over step the other. Joe needs to sue him for the losses of his Restaurant and the salaries of his employees. Every business that is shut down should. If you unite you can win this. Divided you will fall. Unite and fight.

Again where did you get your law degree? Or even where did you go to high school? Civics 101. Governors most certainly do have the authority. It's called an Executive Order Einstein. To further educate you constitutional or statutory powers of the governor do not require any action by the state legislature to take effect and become what is know as....... a law.
Yes a lawsuit was filed but if you were the least bit knowledgeable you would bet it gets tossed as the fed courts have done in other similar cases filed in other states. This because the US Supreme Court has consistently ruled in favor of protecting the public during epidemics since 1905.
