Homemade Guns: Legal, Unregistered and Can Kill

This morning, this gun didn't exist. It was just a pile of metal parts.

This AR-15 was built from a kit you can buy online. It can shoot 45 rounds a minute. It has no record of sale and no serial number. The government has no clue it exists. And that's just how Dimitri Karras wants it.

“Our goal was to get as many of these onto the streets as humanly possible,” he said. “In my opinion, an armed society is a just society and every time someone builds one of these guns, our society gets a little more justice inside of it.”

In Oceanside, Calif., Karras has made a big business out of selling kits that are easily turned into guns. And because of the way the gun laws work, no background check is required.

He sells gun parts to people like Perry Williams.

“I do assemble my own rifles, it's my right,” said Williams. “Basically, we're entitled to create our own firearms.”

It's true. You can legally build a gun as long as you don't sell it or give it away. And now, with ready-to-order gun kits and instructional videos online, it's easier than assembling an IKEA dresser.

More guns = less crime.

it might take 45 minutes at a drill press for someone who is competent and knows what they are doing, but it's not quite that easy for the average person in the neighborhood.

Do they make a 30 round magazine kit?!

10:36 Yes, of course.

10:21 Anyone can get templates for under $20 that will allow you to bypass the "experienced" part. Same goes for AK's.

All of those suckers who bought inferior rifles, during the hype, should have been buying receivers. No wait, and you can buy the other parts whenever you want.

Yeah you keep thinking Uncle Sam doesn't know that you bought those kits - guess what the company you bought them from knows who you are and what you bought. That companies records can be requested from the government, and guess what with the right paperwork, the GOV. will know who you are!

This is the same company, Ares, that was raided by the BATFE. The raid was conducted because they wanted his customer list. Raid was conducted illegally do to a restraining order the owner had against the.

This is wrong, in that you can buy a lower receiver by mail, BUT, it will be delivered to an FFL holder, and you have to buy it from him. Buying it from him, it is registered.

Not an 80% lower, as is discussed in this article. I know. I've finished more than a few myself. Even with the template, it takes over 45 minutes to ensure that you have a mil-spec receiver when you are done. You go too fast, and you have a paperweight.

Some steel tubing, assorted metal projectiles (shrapnel) and an air compressor and you have yourself a firearm. I've seen projectiles shot from PVC pipe and some hair spray and a lighter as the igniter. Kids make soda bottle bombs now, banning guns will do nothing to stop someone who wants to kill someone else.
