Troopers Investigate Crash On US 113, Selbyville

Location: South DuPont Boulevard (US113 southbound) and McCabe Road, Selbyville, DE

Selbyville, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a crash that occurred this morning sending two people to the hospital.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. this morning as Steven B. Emich was operating a 2009 CIXK Scooter southbound on the shoulder of US 113 near McCabe Road, Selbyville. For unknown reasons, Emich failed to see a disabled 1995 Chevrolet Lumina parked on the shoulder of the road. The Scooter struck the left rear of the Lumina ejecting Emich and his passenger, Mary M Suchting, into the southbound lanes of US113.

Emich and Suchting, who were not wearing helmets, were airlifted from the scene by the Delaware State Police Helicopter and LifeNet Helicopter to Christiana Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing into the cause of the crash. Northbound and southbound lanes of US113 were impacted approximately an hour and a half due to the helicopters landing in the roadway as well as the troopers investigating and clearing the scene. It is unknown what the relationship is between Emich and Suchting.
