Generally read labels, especially to compare similar items. Look for lower calories, fat, and sodium and higher fiber and protein. Of course no trans fats and no high fructose corn syrup.
Everyday. Weight management leads to better health. With healthcare costs what they are today, I have NO CHOICE but to manage my weight along with my finances.
I basically eat whatever I want, in moderation but I do check ALL labels because I don't make it a habit of buying highly processed foods. I do look at the calories, but I don't live my life by calorie count. There's no need if you're eating a balanced, quality diet and getting exercise. I don't concern myself about the high fructose sugars and stuff like that, which have been around forever, but I do watch the artificial ingredients and preservatives. Eat REAL food and stop buying the boxed and premixed stuff and you'll all be healthier!
I try not to use anything with a label. Fresh or fresh frozen fruits and vegetables. No meat. For my kids fish and white meat organic turkey or chicken as the still eat a small amount of meat. Canned and boxed just has too much garbage in it.
