Calif. Group Gives Texas Dog National Hero Award

Three years ago, Bear was a 100-pound Shiloh German shepherd nobody wanted at a Texas shelter.

Debbie Zeisler came to his rescue. She has lost count of the times since then that he has come to hers.

On Monday, Bear was honored with the 30th National Hero Dog award by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles.

Believe it or not, dogs can also detect bad people.Their ability to detect seizures & cancer is mystifying enough, but I have personally seen perfectly docile dogs react adversely to certain new people they met.In most cases these same people ended up doing something awful for which they were convicted of later. They have their own brand of intelligence that defies scientific explanation.

Animals give back so much more then most give them credit for. So many unwanted in shelters. Please don't breed or buy while shelter dogs die. Make adoption your only option.
