Contract For Ocean View Bicycle And Pedestrian Improvements Awarded

-- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that David A. Bramble, Inc. is the low bidder for the Town of Ocean View Bicycle and Pedestrian improvements. For this project, the Maryland-based firm submitted a bid of $691,649.41, the lowest of seven bids received. The location of the project will be along Woodland Avenue from West Street to Atlantic Avenue. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 14, and will be completed in approximately 208 calendar days. Work will be conducted Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work on Fridays or Saturdays is possible depending on factors like weather. Lane restrictions will also be in place along Woodland Avenue during the project.

The Town of Ocean View applied for and was awarded a Transportation Enhancement (TE) Project that helped fund Phase I of their downtown revitalization effort to improve pedestrian mobility and safety in the area. The required match of 15% of the total project cost was raised by the town and totaled $123,875.55.

The project will include construction of new curb and sidewalk, installation of curb ramp improvements to meet compliance regulations with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), improved signage, and crosswalks.
