Police Chief in Martin Case Remains Under Scrutiny

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - While George Zimmerman is free on bail, the police chief criticized for not charging him after Trayvon Martin's slaying remains under scrutiny, as city commissioners want to wait for the results of a federal investigation to decide if they will accept Chief Bill Lee's resignation.

It could take months before Sanford city commissioners have the information they say they need.

Based on the bond hearing last week, it looks like the police chief will be vindicated.

The detective who co-signed the arrest warrant admitted at the bond hearing that they had no evidence to contradict the statement that Zimmerman gave.

This helps explains why his bond was only $150K, and why the judge had no problem with Zimmerman leaving the state while on bond.

It wouldn't be surprising if the judge dismisses the case once the defense makes that motion.

3:38-I would like to agree with you,but this whole issue is too racially charged.Everyone who is involved in any way with this case is being threatened.Judges, lawyers,Zimm's family members, etc, are all getting death threats. If this still proceeds as you anticipate it will,my faith in our judicial system will be restored.
