They Should Outlaw These Things

Behind that bicycle is an INFANT in a little cart riding down the middle of the road in Downtown Salisbury.

Look, I think its great to get out and exercise but when you become such the junkie that you must trail your infant child behind you through traffic, well, you're an IDIOT.

Please do tell me what form of protection is provided for this child? We have to buckle our children into safety seats in our cars but its OK to ride through busy streets in Downtown Salisbury with no bumper, no tail lights, no turn signals, no air bags, no protection whatsoever.

Your last sentence says it all Joe. I can't believe this is allowed. Even a dog could walk up and bite the kid.

Just proves the saying "just because you can produce a child doesn't mean you should be allowed to"

Actually most bicycle trailers have a 5 point harness in them for the child. The material on the back is reflective. The trailer is safer then a bicycle child seat because it is designed not to turn over in the event the cyclist goes down. If the child is under 16 maryland law requires them to be helmeted.

Seriously? Society has gone soft and become so ridiculously paranoid. When we grew up we slept in the back of the station wagon with blankets and pillows and not one restraint. We rode bikes with no helmets. I have pictures of us as kids on the back of the bike in a seat so the whole family could go bike riding together. While I agree that it isn't a good idea to take your children bike riding through busy intersections, I think this is a bit absurd.

6:29, I love your post. Have many fond memories riding in the back of my parents station wagon with my siblings. Or, on the front seat in between my parents sitting on the pulled down arm rest so I could see out the front window. No seat belt either. Miss those days. LOL
