I See The Only Time The Mayor & Council Care About Downtown Is On 3rd Fridays

The trash on the Downtown Plaza has been an issue for many years. Even former Council President Mike Dunn brought it up. How is it that they just can't seem to come up with a way to keep residents from instantly filling up these cans.

how bout eliminating the trash can completely????????? isnt that the most obvious fix? ive seen mpre foot traffic in residential neighborhoods; and they dont have public trash cans!

The plaza is just one area that the public works crew needs to check on daily. If they keep up on it, it shoouldn't take too long to empty a few trash cans.

is it possible local tenants are using them for their own trash removal

Put cameras down there.

People who live on the Plaza (including myself) use the trashcans because the landlords do not provide dumpsters or trash removal services to their residents.

The city could put more trashcans out there or empty them more often, sure, but it's not the city's fault that the Plaza residents have no other choice but to use them.

The county residence don't have trash pick up either. They either have to pay to have it picked up or take it to the dump on their own.
Since this is in city limits and city taxes are paid their should be trash pick up available. How about putting a dumpster in one of their parking lots for the people to use.

I agree; city limits = City trash collection. Then move the litter cans inside the buildings entrances if the problem persists.

P.S. The verification words are now MUCH more readable!

These folks seem unable to manager anything.

I live on the plaza, I have called numerous times about trash removal. Everytime I call the city, I ask if there is anyway that I/My HOA can pay for trash removal.

Their answer? "No."

Are you kidding me? I pay 1600$/year in city taxes alone and I STILL offer to pay more for trash removal and they dont even give me another option. Ive asked about a dumpster, but there is no where to put the dumpster without getting a fine from the city.

They took away trash cans that could hold more trash, for less, however more "appealing" trash cans. They did it because people were putting trash in the cans, not to make the plaza look nicer. If they wanted to make the plaza look nicer, they could start with giving businesses incentives to move to the plaza.

I will gladly pay a couple extra bucks a month for trash removal. However, for whatever reason, the city can not do that.

I dont like the look of trash bags next to trashcans either. If the trash can is full, I do NOT put trash in it.

As money hungry as the city is, you would think they would be all for collecting more money for something they already come through twice a week and do.

I wasnt even allowed to put a small real-estate(for sale) sign in the mulch in front of my building. And people wonder why the plaza is such a ghost-town.

The plaza has so much potential to bring cashflow and business to this city, but it seems that the city itself is just content on having to raise taxes every few years. Eliminate the cost to park, do something about the trash issue, clean up the shrubbery, bring incentives for business owners who want to move to the plaza and accomodate to THEM.

Running a city should be a lot like running a business and who wants to go to businesses with poor customer service?

Seems like the slumlords would put a can out back somewhere.
