i think speed cameras in general aren't a bad idea. frees up time that officers spend running radar to fight real crime...

I support speed cameras anywhere, not to worry ,if you don't break the law. What's the big deal anyway?

Anonymous said...

yes

Anonymous said...

No way

Anonymous said...

Absolutely. And I am not a sheriff's deputy, nor am I related to one. LOL!

Anonymous said...

yes I do
Some food for thought:
1. we have speed limit signs
people speed anyway
2. we have stop signs
people roll through them
3. we have pedestrian crossing
signs , people pay no attention
4. we have no parking signs ,
people pay no attention
5. we have handycap parking ,
that's a joke
6. on and on and on
7. obey the law people

Anonymous said...

Yup sure do, it's not difficult to to drive within 12 over the speed limit.

Anonymous said...

Yes, because it sure is a deterrant to speeding. I know that I slow down more these days. Again, if you're not speeding, whats the problem?

It didn't deter Fredericksen, now, did it.

People......wake up! I personally don't speed for many reasons. Safety, avoiding tickets, and saving my tires & gas, But when is enough? The total envasion of your private lives continues to creep forward everyday. Do this, don't do that, tax this, tax that....WTF. If it's brown looks like a baberuth and stinks. It's not a tootsy roll. Just another tax revenue.

i'd rather the people who are breaking the law pay more money to the gov't than for the gov't to increase my taxes for NOT breaking the law. DUH!

and yes, i've had a few speeding tickets. yes i've gone to court to get the points removed and yes i've paid the fines. you have to pay to play (or speed).

more reason to stay the hell out of salisbury, lets see how much of a hit local businesses take over this.

Anonymous said...

I support it because I don't speed in school zones.

Anonymous said...

Its all about money anymore. government.Federal or Local want to drain you dry...

Anonymous said...

to all:

say that once they start looking into your windows with said cameras only used for speeding...

does it matter, the cops are the ones speeding and not getting tickets... the cops are the ones talking on phones while driving "there trained" so I'm told... "just like a baboon with a wrench"

Cops are the ones causing accidents while do all of those things...

Shit, I even see cops face-booking instead of running tags and shit...

I agree with those that understand the need for the cameras. I know its slow me down and I travel past the Bennett district everyday twice a day. I have more issues with the traffic lights than I do the cameras. Whatever happened to utlizing Onley Road.

Anonymous said...

agreed with 1118am.

if you dont speed, theres nothing to worry about.

Anonymous said...

absolutely yes.

Anonymous said...

NO, another step towards total government control.

Anonymous said...

from 11:50 to 12:08 If you really believe that the revenue realized from these cameras will keep your taxes from being raised....then make sure to get your basket ready for the Easter Bunny.

speed camaras are better than being stopped by a cop! camaras have just as much common sense as cops do! and they won't nick pick and worry the hell out of ya!

Anonymous said...

ABSOLUTELY NO...because the reason for their implementation is a lie...

How about we reduce the number of police officers by two for every camera installed...

Anonymous said...

Of course. And I thought it was Mrs. Freddy, not Doc - for the sake of accuracy, of course.

Anonymous said...

Only if the stay in place to assure safety once that are no longer profitable

Anonymous said...

1:42. Don't say such ignorant things (notice I didn't call you ignorant!) Obviously you don't believe cameras will do the work of two police officers, and that has never been claimed by the proponents. If you're worried about them, either (1) don't speed, or (2) don't drive by them! You may not agree with the reasons for them, but not all reasons are a lie. Perhaps you might understand it better if it were stated that there are multiple reasons for installing cameras. See, now nobody is lying and you can now vote yes. It's amazing how some problems can be solved so easily. Have a great day!

Would you like to be stoped and serched for shop lifting every time you leave a store. I know you wouldn't mind if your not a shop lifter. Or how about one those blow & go on your car so you cant drive drunk. Thats right people be good little sheep it all for your own good. BAAAAAAA

Dear 1:54 pm...thank you for not calling me ignorant. If you had, you would be lying, for I am not ignorant. Nor, am I naive. Your comments are naive ( notice I didn't call you naive). You need only set aside your liberal views and objectively look at the track records or our elected officials to know what the real reasons are.

Let's see...if you include all city officers, deputies and troopers, I can hypothesize with much confidence that most would rather author traffic citations than any other part of their duties (excepting administrative personnel). I firmly believe that these cameras will initiate at least the same number of tickets that any 2 officers will. Therefore, we don't need as many officers who only write speeding tickets.

Further, this survey asked if we supported speed cameras, not for your review of my opinion.

In closing, I sincerely hope that the bird of paradise (which is actually a hidden speed camera), drops an egg containing a speeding citation, in your mailbox.

2:29: the bird of paradise is a flower, not an actual bird. perhaps you aren't as intelligent as you think you are...

Anonymous said...

Absolutely.Speed cameras, red light cameras, and eavesdropping tecnology all sound like a violation of our rights, but in actuality they will keep us safer than we would be without them

Anonymous said...

Dear 2:40..haha..you may be right..

but at least I was smart enough to answer the survey question...

I would have to disagree with you. Police officers (like SPD) and Deputies (Like Wicomico) would not rather do traffic enforcement than other parts of their job. If they did then you would see more citations. Troopers on the other hand, that is their primary function, however I am torn as to which side I fall on, would the majority rather do traffic, not sure, it may be evenly split.

A lot of Troopers, (like the one in this area who I was told that stopped over 3700 (I told more than 1500 more than the next in the state) cars last year in Wicomico County, who has his own traffic court days) go a little over, most Deputies and Officers however do not write a large amount of citations, if they do it is normally suspended, no insurance, wrong tags on the car, etc.

You can come to the courthouse and see what I see.

Absolutely

Anonymous said...

absolutely not. its all about money not safety. our safety record in school zones here is very good so we dont need big brother taking more of our money under the pretense of safety. no one has ever told us if the police have to pay the tickets when they speed through them. if not then it is totally wrong. they are no different from us. thanks sjd
