The federal government has filed a lawsuit against Kernan Hospital seeking $8.1 million because of what is says was improper billing to the Medicare and Medicaid system.
The lawsuit filed by the Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Defense accuses the rehabilitation hospital in Baltimore of falsely manipulating its computerized billing system so that it looked like patients had a severe form of malnutrition called kwashiorkor.
Hospitals are compensated more for a patient who has a more severe and complex diagnosis.

Here we go again with our wonderful government.
We , the people who depend on medicare or medicaid is run by the government. However , they can't control the fraud , they can't control crooks . Why , because our government full of the crooks.
So , having said that , the older people will and have been suffering.
I would like to take this moment to thank Obama for his attention to this. I would like to thank his wife for the extravagant spending for the last 3 years.
This is by far the worst president that this country has ever seen.
But , I have to look at the people who elected him , what a waste to humanity.
My grandfather went there for an extended stay and he came out better shape and health wise.
Of course, this was 30 years ago.
Shame to hear such negatative stuff.
My son was in this hospital in Febraury 2011 for brain trauma and they did a excellent job.He was out in 3 months I am sorry to hear about this mess. They have great doctors, nurses and staff.
I work for Kernan Hospital and this is all a misunderstanding. We have been working with the States Attorneys Office for several years now and they have been working to resolve this issue. Not once did they come to us directly to correct the issue, instead they just let the problem persist. No one knew what they were billing was incorrect so the situation grew out of hand. The government is full of crooks, but the person who blamed Obama for this situation, shame on you. He had abosultely nothing to do with this and why should he even matter in regards to this. Not to mention, PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH WAS THE WORST PRESIDENT THAT THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN. I MEAN REALLY, HE STARTED A WAR FOR SOMEONE ELSES FREEDOM, KILLED THOUSANDS BEYOND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD FAMILIES FOR HIS OWN CAUSE, HE CAUSED USS ALL INTRUSIVE DEBT THAT WE "THE PEOPLE" NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR. ALL THE WHILE HE'S SITTING IN TEXAS (A CONFEDERATE STATE) STILL RAKING IN MONEY TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. HE DOESNT HAVE TO SUFFER, WE DO. HE IS BY FAR THE WORST INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS EVER GRACED THIS EARTH.
