Florida Boy, 12, Charged as an Adult in Brother's Murder

In the courtroom, the first-degree murder defendant is shorter and outsized by the cops surrounding him. In the interrogation room, he can barely sit still and stay awake. This defendant, who, if convicted, could spend the rest of his life in prison, is 12 years old.

His name is Cristian Fernandez. And he is the youngest person to be charged as an adult with murder in Jacksonville, Florida’s history.

There is obviously much more to this case than meets the eye. It will be interesting to see what details unfold during court sessions.

Tragic case where the state failed to protect both the 12 yr old and the 2 yr old but now they want to throw the book at the boy. The mother was a addict and the 12 yr old grew up in circumstances far beyond what any human being, let alone a child, should have to endure. It's no wonder the boy isn't right in the head. It's not safe to let this boy back out on the streets but he shouldn't be in prison. He needs to be in some sort of treatment facility.

The government needs to set a definition of what an adult is and stick to it. 21 to drink, 18 to be in the military, enter into contracts and vote, 16 to drive but get into the legal system and at 12 you can be an adult?

yea i agree 9:08, why can't the gov every follow it's own rules. OR maybe his brother was a terrorist and he was just following obama's lead.
