Detectives Probe Pedestrian Death On Train Tracks

Date of Occurrence:   Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:40 p.m.
 
Victim: 39 year old Newark, DE man
 
Resume:  
Newark- Delaware State Police detectives are investigating the death of a Newark man who was struck by a train last night in Newark, DE.
 
The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. last night as troopers were called to the CSX rail tracks located behind the 100 block of Madison Drive, Newark, DE for the report of a male subject being struck by an eastbound CSX train. Initial indication is that the train’s conductor and engineer both observed a subject lying on the rail tracks and were unable to stop the 52 car freight train in time to avoid striking the victim. Police were then contacted and arrived to find a male victim, later identified as a 39 year old Newark, DE man, dead. His body was turned over to the medical examiners office to determine the exact cause of death. 
 
This incident is still under investigation. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time.

I would say that the cause of death was being struck by a train. What a waste of tax dollars!
