Domenico Montanaro writes: AP has declared former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich the winner tonight of the Republican nomination for governor over Sarah Palin-backed Brian Murphy. It sets up an Ehrlich vs. incumbent Gov. Martin O'Malley showdown.
This may be a blue state, but don't underestimate Republicans' chances here. Just look at the results from Delaware Senate tonight. So far, Christine O'Donnell leads 56%-45% over Mike Castle with 37% of precincts reporting.
Anything can happen, especially if Democrats sit on their hands. And Ehrlich is a much more credible candidate than O'Donnell as Maryland, like many other states, is having to make serious budget cuts. That said, Democrats in Maryland are more engaged voters than in many places. Either way, this is one to watch.

I will not be sitting on my hands, I will be voting for O'Malley.
Does this mean Ehrlic will listen to the people this time and reduce instead of raising taxes or adding / raising fees/taxes. He can veto and make the Legislature take the heat. We now have 2 Democrats running for Governor again. One Liberal/Progressive and one Liberal/Conservative.
I won't be voting for Owe'malley, first thing this morning he is running ads attacking Ehrlich about raising taxes. WTF has O'Malley been doing his entire term? RAISING TAXES!!
Ehrlich better hope there is a TREMENDOUS Democratic crossover because he doesn't stand a chance of winning with the compelling numbers I've seen after the primary.
Personally, I think Ehrlich is just wasting his time. In order to win over the democratic base you have to offer something in stark contrast to the present Governor.
In which case they are both cut from the same mold.
