Eugean Beaty, 50yoa of Salisbury, MD was charged with 1st & 2nd degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Openly Wear & Carry a Dangerous Weapon and Disorderly Conduct.
On July 2, 2010 at approximately 4:25pm, officers responded to the area of Waverly Dr and Carroll St for a reported assault. It was learned through the investigation that Beaty and the Victim became involved in a physical altercation after the Victim yelled at Beaty for speeding and tailgating the Victim’s vehicle on Waverly Dr. Beaty struck the Victim several times with a closed fist in the face and then struck the Victim in the head with a tire iron. Beaty was released to the custody of Central Booking. #201000026479
Herschell Delores Bryant, 21yoa of Salisbury, MD was charged with Attempted 2nd degree Murder, 1st & 2nd Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.
During the month of June 2010, officers of the Salisbury Police Department’s Safe Streets Team conducted saturation patrols in high crime areas of the City in conjunction with members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Fruitland Police Department and the Maryland State Police.
These operations resulted in the following:
86 Traffic Stops
43 Field Interviews
8 On-View Arrests: (5) CDS Possession
(1) Felony CDS Poss. w/ Intent
(1) Disorderly Conduct
(1) DUI
6 Warrants Served
3 Criminal Citations
1 Stolen Vehicle Recovered
In addition to the above, officers working these operations apprehended suspects in (2) separate incidents involving assaults with a knife, as well as a burglary suspect.
These operations are part of on-going efforts by the Salisbury Police Department and allied agencies to reduce violent crime and improve the quality of life in our community.
On July 5, 2010 at approximately12:30am, an officer was on patrol in the parking lot of the WaWa convenience store located on S Salisbury Blvd. The officer observed two females involved in a physical altercation at the gas pump island. After being separated by friends, the Victim sat down next to one of the pumps. Bryant went to her vehicle, started the engine, placed the vehicle in drive and then drove into the Victim as she sat on the ground. The Victim tried to get up but was struck again by Bryant pinning the Victim under the vehicle. The officer was able to intercede and arrest Bryant. The Victim was removed from under the vehicle without injury. Bryant was released to Central Booking. #201000026765
Officers of the Salisbury Police Department made 16 arrests after a month-long investigation during June, into the illegal sale of controlled dangerous substances. Salisbury Police targeted high crime areas throughout the City with a variety of uniformed and undercover operations. Officers of the SPD Safe Streets Team were assisted in the investigation by members of the Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Ocean City Police Department.

Now that Webster is officially gone, for good, never to return to Salisbury in an official capacity, it is high time Jim Ireton give Ivan Barkley the chiefs position he has earned. He has done more in the past 6 months to combat crime than Webster did in the 12 years he sat on the 3rd floor.
Make Barkley the chief permanently, there is no denying his ability or his willingness to serve and protect. Morale is up, a bite has been taken out of crime, SPD has no where to go but up under his direction.
Are you listening Mayor Ireton and Council? Make Barkley the chief of SPD.

What's not to be gained by giving the job to Barkley? The department is doing more and breathing easier than it has in over a decade.

Wow, the street safe unit has how many officer 5-8? I'm guessing, but those stats are poor. One highly productive city officer, deputy sheriff or trooper produces more then that in a month all by themselves. Don't get me wrong I guess there out kicking arse and taking names, but don't throw out stats like they are some amazing amount.
THAT'S the kind of police work I'M talkin' 'bout!!! Bustin' burglars, breaking up fights, nailing drug dealers, serving warrants, recovering stolen cars, etc...props to good work...keep that presence up in high crime areas!
