WBOC & The Daily Times Fail To Deliver

Ladies & Gentlemen, Salisbury News has come to learn that WBOC and The Daily Times did go to Annapolis on Monday. However, WBOC only came out after learning Salisbury News was already there. The Daily Times was there because they were following one Senators final day before retirement.

Even though they sat on the Senate Floor almost the entire day, they never covered the Sarah Foxwell portion of the Sex Offender Bills. What WBOC ended up doing there is beyond me because I never noticed them covering anything referencing Sarah Foxwell either.

Now here's what puzzles me the most. Both the House of Delegates and the Senate formally introduced all of us in both Houses, yet the Daily Times nor WBOC ever attempted to hold an interview, like the other 15 MSM television stations did throughout the day and night.

While we clearly made ourselves visible throughout the entire day, again, they never tried to reach out to cover the story. In fact, I know Steve Hammond was there. So it's now very clear, they were more interested in a Senator stepping down than they were in the Sex Offender Bills. I'm sorry but to me that's just unbelievable. In fact, they wanted to hold a "phone interview" with Jennifer Foxwell before we were heading home, yet they had been there the entire day!

Tracey Powell had it right in her Letter to the Editor yesterday. Shame on WBOC and shame on the Daily Times. WMDT was a no show, period.

Is that so, what real news, that a Senator was retireing?????

Is your name Craig Jahelka or Steve Hammond?

WMDT in Annapolis? Excuse me while I stifle laughter. That crew barely shows up for its own broadcasts.

Salisbury News when it counts most.

Look I'm no fan of any of the local media outlets and I prefer to get Joe Albero's take on things, but Joe you have allow that taking a winnebago full of people to the state legislature to lobby for an outcome you desire is not reporting the news. It's lobbying. There is a big difference between the two. You are a blogger not main stream media and I think you should own that label, it is a good thing.

How about you worry about the Foxwell case and not what everyone else is doing. WBOC doesn't go around bitching about what you do, do they? Get over yourself.

Overheard in the WBOC newsroom...

DON ELKINS: Aw, crap!
STEVE HAMMOND: What's wrong?
DON: (points to computer) I can't believe we got beat on this!
STEVE: (looks over Don's shoulder) Oh no! Joe beat us out on another lost dog posting!
ALICE BAVIS: (mumbles something)
STEVE: Oh shut up marble mouth!
DON: Dammit, how can we keep letting this guy scoop us on nature photos and missing pets!
STEVE: (hangs head) I just don't think it's a war we can win.
SCOTT ABRAHAM: Heya folks!
DON: Shut up tanning booth!
ALICE: (to Scott) Yeah, mmmbbllm!
DON: We're just going to have to keep hiring as many 21-year-old reporters who couldn't get better jobs elsewhere that we can, and hope to stop the bleeding.
STEVE: God save us all from Joe Albero.
