Another Closing Business

Hey Joe,

I didnt know if you had heard but the employees of Fresh Pride Market in Crisfield were told Friday that the store will close permanently on April 27th,one day before the grand opening of Crisfields Food Lion store.

Unfortunately,it is the only grocer within walking distance of the boat depot and the Somers Cove Marina, and it will be another empty building on Crisfields main drag....

Chrisfield could be experience an economic boom if they could lure the high speed ferry. What ever happened to that?

If they had expanded and met the needs of the city then Food Lion would have never moved in because there would be no place for them. That's what the free market is for. Kudos to Food Lion for stepping up.

the town of cridfield did everything te could to speed up food lion coming. they wanted jobs in town.
blame fresh pride for not wanting to compete, maybe the knew they would have to clean up and become competative.

Riggin's IGA is withing walking distance of the Marina, and is a store with a MUCH better atmophere than Fresh Pride. Fresh Pride has seemed dirty for ages, and prices are through the roof. It has gone downhill since changing from Meatland to Fresh Pride when it started catering to the "food stamps crowd". Sad to say, but that is the crowd you get most places within walking distance of Somers Cove.
