Chelsea Manning to remain in jail after appeals court denies bail request

A federal appeals court on Monday denied a request by the former US army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to be released from jail on bail, and upheld a lower court’s decision to hold Manning in civil contempt for refusing to testify before a grand jury.

The ruling marks a blow for Manning, who has been detained since March after she declined to answer questions in connection with the government’s long-running investigation into WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange.

A spokesman for Manning and Manning’s attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.

Assange was arrested on 11 April at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The same day, US prosecutors in the eastern district of Virginia unsealed a criminal case against him alleging he conspired with Manning to commit computer intrusion.

9:21 before calling someone else a moron make sure you know what you are talking about. First off it is refusing to appear. This is contempt. The 5th isn't even an issue at this point in time. And just to let you know how it works you can not just go into the grand jury proceedings and plead the 5th. You have to have a valid 5th amendment privilege. That is decided by the judge.

11:12...I like how you refer to use of the 5th Amendment as a "privilege".
Probably NOT how Jefferson was thinking, but men so much smarter than him decided a while back that the right not to incriminate oneself was a privilege, not a right.
Same thing with the other privileges, huh?

I made the "men so much smarter" part up.....

X or Y chromosome. There is no other gender make so clear. These little confused shits with parents who are just as bad. It is a pure choice period. Parents look at today like the child says I want to be an astronaut instead of a doctor. Again bad parenting results in a new class of people. I wanted to be 6'3 and run the forty in 4.1 My mom and dad did not jack me up on steroids or pull a jenner. I am sorry Joe I just cannot bare the hypocrisy put some happy stuff up please.
