If you figure in inflation, those numbers are even worse. For example, in 2012 the average ticket cost $7.96. Today it is almost a full dollar more at $8.89. Yeah, things are that bad and will look even worse on Tuesday.
With no apparent faith in their own product, this is the first Labor Day in 25 years where a new title has not been released on more than 1,000 screens. Over this weekend last year, the box office hauled in nearly $130 million. This year will do about a third of that.

Hollywood needs to stay out of politics.
Tell the actors to act - not play politics!
We pay to see them star in movies and shows - not tell us why we're screwed up by not ascribing to their views!
Political correctness has destroyed the movie industry.
Since actors like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, there haven't been any real men in Hollywood. The movies and story line suck. Even on Netflix and Amazon there are few good movies to watch. Who wants to pay the high ticket prices anyway?

Gave up supporting that aspect of the far-left decades ago. Glad to see Hollywood go down the drain. If only they would take all the Kardashians with them! Oh, and all the lip-synchers with their fake live performances, too.
Add in the NFL to complete the downfall. The ONLY way to get even is through the pockets and pocketbooks.
Turn out good movies and we'll respond positively. Otherwise, we'll wait for the other avenues to show them.
I haven't been to a theatre in quite a while. The movies are marginal, the actors are too political, and the concession prices are waaay to high for what you get!
Maybe if a ticket wasn't almost 15 bucks maybe I would go...
Tickets cost much more than daters and seniors can afford. I cannot afford to take my grandchildren and my husband and I are on a fixed income. I also feel uncomfortable going to the cinema in Salisbury after dark because of lack of security.

"Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" is showing. Every kid should see it on a big screen.
I watch quite a bit of TCM. Hollywood just doesn't make them like that any more.
In the interest of greed and bloated actor salaries, these companies are trying to appeal and distribute world wide. Appealing world wide isn't appealing to Americans.
The Chinese are also slowly taking over the Hollywood studios. Nuff said?
Hollywood has run out of fresh ideas. Its pitiful that they have to remake the remakes. How many times have they made a movie on King Kong - 4? yes that is correct. The original, the 1976 version, the Jack Black version several years ago and this year's disaster (which I did not see). Pitiful.
My family and I stopped supporting liberal Hollywood years ago. Not interested in seeing their movies or watching their tv shows. No sympathy.
I signed up for the $10 a month moviepass card and saw 2 movies last week at the Regal16 in Salisbury. Would have cost $28. Id encourage other people to sign up as well as it pays for itself after seeing 1 movie.
Who wants to go to the theater anyway?
