Troopers Investigating DUI Nearly Hit By 2nd DUI Suspect

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Troopers directing traffic around the scene of a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in Wicomico County early Friday escaped with their lives when another suspected drunk driver slammed into one of their vehicles, authorities said.

Troopers were detouring westbound traffic on Route 50 near Walston Switch Road in Parsonsburg after a Chevrolet driven by a 26-year-old man, who was believed to be intoxicated, left the road and crashed into a tree about 2 a.m., Maryland State Police spokesperson Elena Russo toldWJZ in a phone interview.

About an hour later, while a tow truck was hauling the Chevrolet up an embankment, troopers were able to jump out of the way as a Ford Fusion driven by a 25-year-old man slammed into the back of a trooper’s Ford Explorer, Russo said.

There is too much tragedy associated with driving impaired. So glad the Troopers or anyone else weren't hurt.
