City Partners with Eastern Shore Human Trafficking Task Force, GOCCP, Aglow International for Human Trafficking Conference

Salisbury –The Eastern Shore Human Trafficking Task Force, the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention, the City of Salisbury, and Aglow Mid-Atlantic will sponsor a one-day conference on human trafficking. This free conference will take place on January 30th, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in room 153 of the Teacher Education and Technology building at Salisbury University. Lunch will be provided.

Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan, law enforcement investigators, prosecutors and other experts will be on hand to discuss a range of topics central to the understanding of the scourge of human trafficking. Topics will include:

· Who are the most likely targets for human trafficking? Who is most vulnerable?
· The internet and social media; How predators use technology to target and trap their victims
· How you, your friends, family and neighbors can help prevent human trafficking
· Maryland’s laws and law enforcement
· Available resources

In 2014, 396 human trafficking survivors were identified and provided services in Maryland—nearly double the number in the previous year. It is likely that many more victims either did not, or could not come forward.

This conference is FREE and open to all members of the public, but a reservation is required. To reserve your spot, please email: SalisburyConferenceJan30@gmail.com

This Conference is sponsored by the City of Salisbury, the Eastern Shore Human Trafficking Task Force, and Aglow Mid-Atlantic Region.
