Wicomico County Public Schools Researches Redistricting Delmar Elementary School

PLEASE READ

On February 12, 2015 at 7:00PM the Wicomico County Board of Education and Central Office will be hosting a public information meeting for the Town of Delmar.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather community input with regard to redistricting the Delmar Elementary School, which could impact the education system in Delmar.

This decision to move the boundary lines or redistrict could have an impact on our bi-state community, our district, schools, students, and programs.

I am encouraging EVERYONE to attend this meeting in order to hear the proposed plan, gather information, and be able to speak on behalf of the Delmar community.

I strongly encourage you to attend the public meeting scheduled at Delmar Elementary School for Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 7:00PM.

PLEASE share this with your FB friends and families.

I attended each and every redistricting meeting the WCBOE had way back in the day. I'm also the product of "Busing" in PG County back in the 70's. Lets face it folks...redistricting is just plan old busing to adjust the numbers, It didn't work in the 70's...and it didn't work in Wicomico Co. either. All it does is cost tax payers $$$$$ and disrupt children's/families lives. Its probably too late to make a difference.....but this crap has to end somewhere!

They tried this a couple of years ago, didn't they? That's how the 5th graders ended up in the middle school.

And...let's face it...bus the "problems" in and nothing will be done! The administration there does nothing to help the teachers with disruptive students.
My son is in a classroom now that the boy hits others, is disrespectful, does no work, a total disruption and NOTHING happens to him.

Don't send the good kids to Delmar because the bad ones are taking over!

They moved the Pittsville middle school bondaryo Phillip Morris. The logical line would be Walston Switch.
Now it all makes sense..wonder how pittsville feels? What are the demographics moving into pittsville?

Build more schools the county school age population is exploding. Cost too much build more jails!

Schools where the population will not be able to pass state tests will be closed or redistricted so failing scores can be mixed in with passing scores. Parents whose kids are in classes where bullies go without consequences need to file assault charges every time their kids are the victims of those who enjoy a protected status.

With all of the electronic communication devices can't some kids learn from home and free up space.

Those with means don't have to deal with these problems. I wonder how may BOE and school teachers have their children in public schools? I would be willing to bet be very few if any!

I know I had mind in private school during their elementary school years so they would get a healthy and good start on life without the pc police and government propaganda forced on our kids.
If I could have afforded to keep them there during their high school years I would. I lost my job during the start of the recession and was forced to take a lower paying job, so my kids had to go to public school.
Compared to where they used to go, the school system seems like a prison. My kids couldn't wait to graduate and get out of there.

What happened to the day when you considered buying a home and it really was important what school district you bought in ? Now they want to bus your child to a school that you do not leave near, paying property taxes should take president over those that don't, ship the renters kids around and leave the home tax payers in their same neighborhood school. We need to flood this meeting with our concerns if they try to redistrict Delmar. The schools are the backbone of this town. any change would not only effect the Elem. School, But the Middle and High School as well. Please fill this meeting with everyone!!!

We renters want our children to go to a good school, too. Renters pay rent that affords the apartment owner the ability to pay property taxes just like homeowners.

Leave the Delmar kids in Delmar and keep them out of our schools down by Pittsville. We have enough issue we don't need more bused in.
