"...idea is to get students to talk about something they may hide from their parents or not even understand what is happening"

Minnesota’s largest school district is discussing screening high school students for depression and anxiety in the classroom.

As part of a state grant to improve mental health services, Anoka-Hennepin schools could offer a screening as soon as next fall.

Start with the teachers.

This sounds very familiar.. It was a normal function of a good teacher as far back as the 1940's (by my memory) to understand the students' problems and help them resolve them, even to the point of calling the parents. Teaching isn't what it used to be.

It won't do any good when parents are in denial or just keep "forgetting" to give their kids their meds.

WHO in the hell do they think they are? Asking probing questions about a child's family life and possible problems?
None of your "I know whats best for your children" effing BS is wanted.
Think a bit.
What do you think is going to happen when some stranger decides your child is "depressed" or has some "anxiety"?
YOUR child is (sooner or later) forcibly medicated or "treated", with OR WITHOUT your permission.
Please --- if you need someone to raise your children, teach YOU how to be a parent, pay your bills, manage your life, don't think EVERYONE is as helpless and needy as you. Or as stupid.
This is straight up conditioning.
Conditioning children to tell strangers (from the always helpful government) about their family and conditioning parents to believe the State has that kind of authority and power.
Keep cheering.
