Westminster Explosion Damages Nearly A Dozen Homes

A Westminster neighborhood was rocked Saturday morning from an explosion in a shed in the backyard of a home.

The explosion occurred shortly before 6 a.m. when homeowner Bernard Toporzycki, 56, went to open the door of the shed in the rear of 215 Sullivan Street.

The explosion sent debris throughout the neighborhood with windows being blown out.

The State Fire Marshall's Office says about 11 homes were damaged in all.
