Task Force To Study School Attendance Areas

SALISBURY — The Wicomico County Board of Education and Wicomico County Public Schools are reconvening the Redistricting Task Force to examine school attendance areas and to make boundary recommendations to the Board of Education.

The task force will include parents/guardians and community members from throughout the county, as well as staff members. People who served on the Redistricting Task Force in 2009-2010 are invited to return, and new members are welcome. The Redistricting Task Force will meet approximately twice a week from early January through late February.
Anyone interested in serving on the Redistricting Task Force may call 410-677-4495, or send an e-mail to comments@wcboe.org. Writers are urged to share a little information about their background, location and interest in serving on the Task Force. This will assist the board in appointing a Task Force whose members represent the many facets of the community.

How often is going to keep happening?
Some families have had to relocate already to keep their children in the preferred school. Now they are going to force another change down our throats.

My child has to learn Spanish , she also told me she can't understand most of the blacks , however she did say she thinks they talk in a slang suited for their culture.( she also said most are curse words)
I said to her " it's a damn shame we just can't speak English anymore"

Many in the community question why the Nutters Crossing development, clearly in the Prince Street district, was granted an "exception" so its kids could attend a different school. Maybe redistricting can begin by correcting that.

There trying to spread the kids that can't pass any tests out. Now that common core is here there is no chance some of these kids have of passing them. Always remember, the people at the board don't make decisions based on what's best for the kids but what is best to make the system look good and ultimately themselves. They should go back to neighborhood schools and stop bussing kids around. Do you think bussing a bunch of hood rats from church street to Pittsville will make a difference? It will just destroy another school..
