Man Injured In Carroll County Explosion Dies

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The State Fire Marshal says a man injured when a storage shed behind his home exploded has died.

Brian S. Geraci said in an email that 56-year-old Bernard Toporzycki of Westminster died Tuesday afternoon at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was taken after the explosion Saturday morning.

Geraci says that while the explosion is believed to be accidental, the origin and cause are still under investigation.

Authorities say Toporzycki was walking into the shed when it blew up. The force of the blast damaged 11 homes.
