Baltimore Postal Worker Convicted Of 7-Year Disability & Food Stamp Scam

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A long-term Baltimore mail carrier has been convicted of a disability scam that spanned seven years.

Colette Lee, 49, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty Monday to making false statements to obtain federal employee compensation benefits.

From 2003 to 2014, Lee worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and then became a mail handler.

Lee submitted claims for disability for a work-related injury in May 2007, February 2008, August 2009 and October 2009—but failed to disclose relevant parts of her medical history, including an active injury claim, physical therapy and injuries from previous car accidents.

Lee received wage payments and the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act benefits from May 2007 through January 2014.

A quarter of a million dollars in theft. And any regrets from the thief other than getting caught?

This is so prevalent in the U.S. postal system that it's an all out epidemic, one of the real reasons they're in financial trouble. The disability insurance they're paying out is huge. I know of 3 in my home town that did not deserve a cent, one had prior back injury, the second sexed the married postmaster, the third gimped her bandage wrapped tendonitis arm out the early retirement door. The first two have been on it since the 1970's, yet do everything any healthy person does. So consider paying healthy people for decades, getting no help or anything else back from them then multiply that by the thousands that I'm unaware of, it's a fiscal weight that no business could possibly survive. Surveillance like the one in this story costs more than USPS saves, it's simply for publication hoping to stem the rampant tide of post office workers theft via I'm to sick to go to work anymore.

Hey, the USPS employees learn from the best. Their "business" is run by corruption and greed, with no thought of efficiency or profit. They simply screw it up, steal from the tax trough, and screw it up again. Vicious cycle.

It aint just the postal workers it millions on disability that don't have a damn thing wrong with them. There are even a bunch crooked lawyers on tv trying to get people to put in for disability. The lawyers know its a numbers game, throw enough shit against the wall and some of it is bound to stick.
