Man Arrested for Public Consumption of Iced Tea Urged to Take a “Deal” from Prosecutors

So, it’s a warm day, and you’re standing in a parking lot, drinking a refreshing can of iced tea.

Suddenly, a random dude walks up and demands your beverage. You show him that it is in fact iced tea and that you aren’t publicly intoxicated. He tells you to give him the can and you say no, figuring this stranger can get his own iced tea.

Incidentally, the random dude is a plainclothes police officer. Despite the fact that you’re drinking iced tea, you are flung to the ground and put in a chokehold, because we all know that folks just can’t be drinking iced tea all willy-nilly in a parking lot like that.

If he takes the deal - he is subject to extreme oversight - and subsequent arrest for violation for so much as looking at a cop cross-eyed!

We are becoming a police state here folks.

Hopefully, the pictures, video and witnesses will make it to an appeals court where the entire matter will be thrown out...

The cop in question was out of line.

Soon, the peasants will be revolting and rebelling! I wouldn't wanna be a cop then.

It is possible that there is another side to this story - so let's see it...

He looks guilty of something so what the hell, he should take the deal. His time served will just be towards something he did that he didn't get arrested for!

I think he needs to hire a lawyer that is successful in suing cities for false arrest, defamation, and the like. Hr was assaulted in a parking lot!

Don't want to be paranoid but have any of you noticed that all the lead popular cop shows "NYC Blue" and NCIS are routinely showing cops manhandling people that have taken in to be questioned. The fact that the public knows by watching the show that the person IS guilty almost has people rooting in their seats for the cops to beat their brains in. STOP... consider.. what if this continues to the point where it is totally acceptable behavior not only on tv but in real life. Do you condone this behavior?

Lol! I'm sure that's what you all say Mr. Gerald the retired police officer from Detroit!!

Cop needs to be taught. He needs "training". He needs to be trained with a .357 mag.
This kind of crap has got to stop. People are being taken advantage of. Black, white, brown, whatever, this is wrong. Then the court system supports this impotent cop? What a joke.
It may happen to me one day, and it will be the last time that particular cop does it and gets away with it. (as well as the prosecutor)
End of story.

So, drinking iced tea is now illegal? Really? Somebody needs a lesson here, and it needs to be as or more physical as was demonstrated on the "PERP".

For God's sake, just start shooting these idiot cops!

THat is not how thd justice systme works, and you should know that. We have so many laws that everyone is at one time or another guilty of breaking at least one of them.

But people are to be charged with a specific crime, not charged someone with something he hasnt committed in hope pf punishing him for some crime he may have done, or not.

Because no one has ever put alcohol in a soda can, red cup or any other beverage container right? But great way to word it, refreshing can of ice tea, flung to the ground, choke hold.

11:33... so what you are saying is that the police have a right to stop, beat and arrest anyone who may be drinking a can of soda (or using ANY beverage cup in public) because some people have been known to put alcohol in them? REALLY??? That's taking "probable cause" to places only cops could take it...."we, the people" thinks it's just Gestapo strong arm BS.
