A Kansas man who answered an online ad to donate sperm to a lesbian couple is fighting the state's efforts to force him to pay child support for the girl subsequently conceived through artificial insemination.
Department of Children and Families spokeswoman Angela de Rocha said Wednesday that the agency would not be pursuing payment if the state hadn't provided more than $6,000 in benefits for the child after the Topeka couple split. She says the state tries to establish a child's paternity when benefits are involved.
Court records show that the sperm donor, 46-year-old William Marotta, signed an agreement in March 2009 giving up parental rights to the then-couple, Angela Bauer and Jennifer Schreiner. The agreement also absolves Marotta of financial responsibility. The state contends the agreement isn't valid.

LOL! Time to pay up.. stay away from them people.
The ultimate irony! The courts have ALWAYS penalized men for divorce. Now they want to continue this penalty even when 2 "equal" people split from a homosexual liaison. It is crazy time!
Seriously though - why is no one holding the lesbian couple accountable??? They should be forced to pay the $6,000 in benefits.
Agree with anon 7:40. The couple should be the only ones responsible.
Maybe he should turn the tables and ask for full custody of the child. See how fast they backtrack. See what happens when you are nice and try to help someone out. They wanted him to give up his parental rights......and he did. Now they decided they want him to have to pay? Bull, they should get nothing from him. They should be paying him for his donation.
This is what the gay/lesbian movement for "equal rights" is all about. Their mostly democratic menatality has them constantly with their hands out looking for a freebie. Now they have stooped so low as to use a child as a pawn in their entitlement seeking quests.
