Walmart's New Health Care Policy Shifts Burden To Medicaid, Obamacare

Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post.

Under the policy, slated to take effect in January, Walmart also reserves the right to eliminate health care coverage for certain workers if their average workweek dips below 30 hours -- something that happens with regularity and at the direction of company managers.

Walmart declined to disclose how many of its roughly 1.4 million U.S. workers are vulnerable to losing medical insurance under its new policy. In an emailed statement, company spokesman David Tovar said Walmart had “made a business decision” not to respond to questions from The Huffington Post and accused the publication of unfair coverage.

I have a friend with a decent job, but he told me his plan at work has gotten worse, it's costs more and starting first of the year he'll have a $2000 deductable. Plus he's had to take some furlough days, things are bad all over.

It is only going to get worse. There will not be a full time job available ever again in the near future.

Yes, 331, but now there will be twice as many jobs, so the "administration" can brag about how many jobs it "created".

Most companies will do more with less and as time goes on they will dwindle the number of full time employee and move overseas!!! look out you under achievers living off the government your free ride is going to get to sufferer just like the rest of us

Like it or not, Walmart didn't write the rules, they are just playing the game. More people are going to work fewer hours, and all taxpayers are going to end up paying for the health care.

I've had a 2,500 deductible for a few years. Yes it sucks but I'm glad I have insurance.

walmart is the problem, not the solution.

if they are allowed to keep treating their employees any way they want, they are helping this obamacare crap get installed in businesses, people's lives, doctors lives and offices, hospitals, etc.

We need to leave walmart en masse. Go back to our local stores. If we have to pay a little more for AMERICAN MADE products, so be it. Why are we buying other countries crap, even at a discount, when these same companies will hang you out to dry.

Who is going to buy our products? We need to earn a paycheck too. Working for the enemy only helps the enemy.

He will have all the money and the power that goes along with that.

If you still want higher wages and better lifestyles, you have to feed the machine the allows that to happen.

Twinkie land didn't want to cooperate, or rather the Union did not want to cooperate. And we saw what happened.

Not to worry. They will be bought by some company or investors. Hopefully from this country.

Bottom line is our companies and our workers need to be competitive. We are going to have to take lower wages if we want to work to make products with lower prices that will be bought.

That is what is happening in our country right now, only a foriegn country is benefiting because of cheap prices of their labor and cheap prices of their products.

Whoever hold the mortages on american homes will have to renegotiate interest rates and payments if they don't want to foreclose on american families.

First step is STOP SHOPPING WALMART!

Their workers went on strike, now it is our turn as consumers.

DO NOT BUY FROM WALMART OR SAMS CLUB.

The small business cannot compete against the foreign market. The main reason…. REGULATIONS. There are so many regulations on manufactures they can’t even come close to producing a decent product in the US.
