A Letter To The Editor 12-3-12

I’ve been watching this demolition project off and on during the week, and noticed that all on the air conditioning units were left in place and demolished right along with everything else instead of being professionally emptied of their refrigerants, tagged as such, and disposed of separately as required by law. You know, the law that you and I have to abide by when we throw out an air conditioner or refrigerator at the Wicomico landfill. What were there, some 40 to 50 units in the building? All those CFC’S into the Ozone layer. I guess we’ll all have to pay another tax at the gas pump having to take the blame for this pollution that must have come out of our tailpipes.

Really quit your complaining.....one of the biggest eyesores is gone ..... Maybe the one complaining would like to have a place like that near them..... im sorry but ill deal with some refrigerants leaking as a trade off to a huge blight on my city....... You Mr.Complainer need to go home and keep your mouth shut

Quiet citizen! This is Salisbury. We handle things differently down here.

Which demolition project? Where?

If these units came from the Feldman building, given the condition of it before demolition, I doubt they had any refrigerants in them.

Refrigerators in each room, too.

Call the city code enforcement division and complain.

Whenever we tore down a bldg,we always put the appliances along the street for anyone who wanted them. They were free so people took them just in case they still worked.

Why call City Code Enforcement Division and complain. It is better to complain on Salisbury News. Upon reading the comments on here, they will scurry right over and take care of the situation.

Another bridge being burned?

I think this picture was taken at the Travel Thrift Inn that was torn down last week.

In the picture...that AC looks more like a TV.

anonymous 2:26, you are exactly right. I already received a call telling me they are now dividing metal objects.

Anonymous said...

They always divide the metal projects. It is easier to sort it with heavy equipment than to manually take them out before demo. It is not like someone read it on here and said....gee..we better start sorting. Believe it or not, these companies have done this before. It aint their first dog and pony show. Get over yourselves.

A local contractor would'nt get away with that!

and you know the law when homeowners are replacing rotten windows in an historic zone...
