Highlighted Events This Week In Wicomico Schools

Friday, Sept. 21 Salisbury University Basketball Team Visits Transition I Class Wicomico High School The Salisbury University basketball team will spend time at Wicomico High School Friday, Sept. 21, visiting Transition I class students in their classroom, playing basketball with them in the gym, and sitting down for lunch together. The visit will bring the community into the school to learn more about the Transition program, while at the same time giving students the opportunity to learn more about the post-graduation experiences the SU players have enjoyed. This visit is an attendance reward for students, who had to show the same level of commitment and dedication to being at school that they would have to show to an employer in the workplace. The visit will begin at about 10 a.m., when the WiHi students will welcome the SU team at the flagpole. Following a short visit to the Transition I classroom, everyone will head to the WiHi gym at 10:30 a.m. to play basketball. Lunch will be served back in the classroom at 11:15 a.m., thanks in part to support from Dayton’s Chicken & Seafood. 410-677-5146 Friday, Sept. 21 A+ Garden Centre Open for Business Parkside High School Greenhouses The A+ Garden Centre operated by horticulture students of the Parkside High School Department of Career & Technology Education is open for business, and will offer special hours this Friday from 3-6 p.m. The greenhouses are also open every school day from 8:15-11 a.m. and 12:30-2 p.m. Come check out the mums, pansies and perennials.
