Resume:

Newark, DE- On Thursday, April 5, 2012, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. the Delaware State Police will be conducting a traffic enforcement initiative named Operation Safe Zone. The location of this initiative will be in the area of DE Rt.1 and I-95 in Newark. The purpose of the operation is to strictly enforce the 40 m.p.h. posted speed limit in the work zone area as well as focusing on other dangerous moving violations such as making an unsafe lane change, following too close, and disregarding a construction flagger’s signals.

The Delaware State Police would like to offer the following tips to commuters travelling through work zones.

Slow down and always follow posted work zone speed limits. Remember, traffic fines double in work zones.
Pay attention. Workers and equipment may be only a few feet away from passing vehicles.
Be patient.
Plan ahead. Leave a few minutes early when you know you must travel through a work zone.
