Jobless Claims Down. Things Are Brighter?

Obama Prospects Brighten as Economic Recovery Moves to Expansion ... Less than 12 months from the presidential election, the U.S. economy has moved from recovery to expansion, prompting similar shifts in President Barack Obama's political prospects. The unemployment rate moved downward last month, to 9 percent. The number of Americans filing applications for unemployment benefits fell to the lowest level in seven months two weeks ago, a sign the recovery may be encouraging companies to limit cuts in headcount. And a private outplacement company is predicting that jobs losses in the government sector, a drag on U.S. employment, may be leveling off. – Bloomberg

Yeah but, how many are STILL unemployed?

And why the heck are millionaires getting unemployment benefits? People talk trash about regular people drawing unemployment but the rich play the system and it's ok?

Wake up folks, unemployment numbers may be down but that's only due to people hiring additional help for the holiday season.
This is a NORMAL dip, not an encouraging one!

958-Unemployment is based on income, not based on assets. Something I'm very against, but that's how the federal gov't put the law into place. To change it, it has to be done on a federal level.

1149-You're spot on. Anyone who thinks otherwise just needs to examine the breakdown in hires, as outlined by the employment #s. That vast majority(85%+) are in service/hospitality, and very few are permanent jobs. I got the same laugh last year when people, in the fall, said it was the turnaround. It's holiday temp hires. Nothing more.

Yeah, I suppose you are correct. Maybe I was just thinking of the audacity of the rich even applying for unemployment. Or thinking that anyone that well off would have the morals not to take what they don't need.

Silly me. Nothing illegal about it I guess. Just one of those shake my head moments.
