Survey Says Federal Workers Enjoy Their Jobs

The federal workforce might be battered by a pay freeze, buyouts and negative publicity. But most of its members still like coming to work every day. OPM's latest Employee Viewpoint Survey shows a majority of federal workers think their work is important and enjoyable, and most say they get plenty of respect from their bosses. Seven in ten would recommend their own agency as a good place to work. More than 265,000 employees responded to the survey.

Their job security is not hinged on their company making a profit. That alone eliminates a lot of workplace stress. In addition to that, raises are automatic as long as their work evaluations are at least satisfactory.Federal benefits are so-so.I can't personally think of any federal agency other than the USPO that depends on profit/loss margins.

Minor correction. They measure it but certainly have never depended on it. Still don't.

I call it "Productivity , the government has none.
By far the most overpaid and underworked people on the planet.

I worked for the government for 25 years, then retired and received 70% of my salary a year as a pension, plus COLA every year to keep up.
While I worked there, we had no co-pay or any cost to us for any insurance. 6 weeks paid vacation, 30 days paid sick leave, hour by hour us of our sick leave or vacation so we could do personal stuff during the day for a few hours. Flexible hours for working mothers, as long as by the end of the week they had put in 40 hours. Paid time off to donate blood, vote, doctors visits, dentist visits, kids school programs, school conferences, and just about anything else we and our Union could come up with. We also got every national holiday off, plus we could extend our holidays with vacation time to get weeks off for fun with our families.
I worked for a state government, can you just imagine how great a Federal worker has it!
We figured it out one time, with all the paid time off, holidays, and weekends, we actually had to work about 30 days a year. God how I love America!
