Overbearing Government At It Again

Ok Joe. Here's yet another example of how an illegal government agency, the ATF, can base an entire case on blatant stupidity. These are your tax dollars at work. I can only wonder how an educated adult making more than....what....$60,000 a year?....can even figure out how to drive to work in the morning being this stupid.

When we're done watching this we can go out into our garages and convert a go-cart into a space shuttle.

The idiot agent can convert a toy into a real firearm? Go right ahead but let us all know when you are going to shoot it so we can take measures to protect ourselves when it blows up.

I generally agree that this is big bro overstepping, however, there is some merit to this story. SOME of these M60 airsoft guns CAN be converted to shoot real ammo. The cost would probably be more than buying a real one tho. The problem is, is that the parts themselves are not regulated. So, one could get a working assault weapon without going through the permit process.

he probably graduated from UMES... They basically hand diplomas out for minorities there.

We have as a nation dumb down education so everyone can pass.

No...an M-60 airsoft cannot be safely converted to fire live .308 ammo. The timing consistency of the electro-mechanical trigger group isn't accurate as it runs on a rechargeable power source that loses cyclic speed in measureable amounts as it is used. The pin would eventually strike the primer before the bolt was forward in battery resulting in a rupture of the casing. The injury to the weapon and user would likely be catastrophic. This ATF agent would be better suited to write parking tickets for a small local law enforcement agency. It's one thing to make a bad decision as it relates to unreasonable siezure. I's entirely another thing to make up a lie of such proportions and expect the public to believe it.

Whoa,I feel really safe now. Toy guns seized, pot heads safely relaxing behind bars, and stealing blankets from the homeless. How safe do you feel?

Response to 11:16

I'm with you on the ATF employee graduating from UMES. Anyone worth their salt knows that UMES hands out diplomas like Carter has liver pills. Then - they usually go on and acquire goverment jobs just like the guy shown in the video. They'll try and do anything to justfy their existence.

Hey 11:16 I graduated from UMES over 20-years ago and proud of it and I'm white. I was the minority at that institution and no one handed me anything. By the way, went on and earned a Master's Degree at UD. However, I do agree the ATF could be more productive then confiscating toy guns.

There is no way on earth those guns could be converted to fire ANY type of live ammunition. Nothing they are made of is strong enough to withstand the pressures of a fired round. Those guns work on an entirely different principle. They have a piston that "blows" the bb out of the barrel with air pressure. There is no real "firing pin" and the barrel is very thin aluminum or steel which would blow to pieces with the first shot. Someone screwed up and they are just trying to cover their butt with lies, since most people are unaware of how airsoft guns work.
