Princess Anne MD-Craig Webster will be in court in Princess Anne today at 1:30 in distric court regarding a summons issued to his dead parents Elwood and Ruth Webster ...The ticket which carries a $250.00 fine will be heard in distric court.
The case was dismissed by Judge Mumford on Jan 11 and within one hour Somerset Planning officals issued a new citation asked Webster to cut his grass with snow on the ground. Webster said it is pretty strange to be asked to mow your grass in the winter..but anything is possible in Somerset County.
Judge Paula Price will be presiding over the case today. It is a civil infraction based on County Zoning Ordianance 913

What dillweeds! Next thing they will be trying to make people comply with is how high snow can be piled and where it must be in the yard...idiots.
Not saying Somerset County is right because obviously the Good Ol Boys have been nippin at the sauce a little bit much but if this case is going in front of Judge Paula Price he has no worries. She would let Jeffery Daumer go free. Not much of a a Judge there
Your tax dollars at work, where do they find these people?
nice to see the yard before we judge.
Planing and zoning has to many people up there with nothing to do. Since there is no new construction for these people to go out and inspect they have to much time on their hands so they can do this kind of stupid stuff. Some of these people need to be laid off and that would also help the budget problem. All they are doing now is costing the county money.
Hold on, he needs to cut his grass in the winter, with snow on the ground? I need to see a picture of this. Someone has too much time on their hands unless his yard is a nasty mess.
Why don't you all call in the Planning and Zoning Office and find out how much the taxpayers are paying the Acting Director the Commissioners appointed in July? You might also ask what his background in this field is. Taxpayer money - not Commissioners.
I spoke with a friend that lives down there and she told me that this is an ongoing problem with this man and he never cuts his grass. He has refused to for a very long time. He is not disabled so there is no need for him not to do it.
I feel like if the P&Z officials are pushing the point this hard then there is probably more to the story. I agree that pictures would be very helpful before casting an opinion.
Chances are, this goes back to last summer, and knowing how bad neighbors complain on each other, the case has finally gotten around to being scheduled in January. Not saying it is right, but we have to consider all sides of the story.
11:46 I'm surprised they told you about this as there is more to this person
More government harrassment. Leave Webster alone, he has lived down there all his life. Probably some come heres complaining about the grass. What is the grass going to hurt anyway, really what is it going to hurt?
P&Z is a worthless organization. Tax payers should fear them, not encourge them to engage in this type of harrassment. Just wait until they come after you for some foolish reason.
Webster is a life long resident as was his father and grandfather before him. He is disabled. The grass complained about is dead for Gods sake. It is the "come-heres" or a better name is transplants that are complaining constantly. It is a rather small front yard and I say for all the time they (come-heres) spend on complaining they can turn the key on their new riding mower and cut the front yard of this disabled persons yard. How hard is that in your retired hours with nothing to do but complain about native residents. Plus the same road that brought you to
Deal Island will take you back to Pennsylvania, Baltimore or whereever you came from...Say bye we wont miss you for you have been no contributor to our churchs or community....bye bye now.
