Arkansas Bill Would Stop SNAP Users from Using Benefits to Buy Junk Food

An Arkansas lawmaker introduced a bill on Thursday that would prohibit food stamp users from using their benefits to buy junk food.

Arkansas state Rep. Mary Bentley (R-Perryville) filed House Bill HB1743 to keep food stamp users who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits from spending their allotted benefits on soft drinks, energy drinks, candy, and dietary supplements.

Bentley wrote in the bill that the legislation would try to combat the obesity crisis in the state, which currently ranks seventh in the U.S. for having the highest adult obesity rate.

Junk food is killing us! Repent!

Snap users, if you want to buy what you want, GET A JOB, like the rest of us that are paying for your "benefit." Otherwise, eat what is good for you (and your fatherless children), with the benefit we provide.

DO THIS IN EVERY STATE.

Let them have the junk food. Let them kill themselves. They will have diabetes, strokes, heart attacks and other fatal diseases and that means one less sponge. These sponges contribute nothing positive to society anyway so it's always better when they are 6 ft under.

Follow FDA nutrition guidelines for food purchases. X amount of protein, x amount of fats, x amount of vegetables, x amount of complex carbs, nearly zero simple sugars.

SNAP should require to have a nutritionist in each state develop an approved list of foods available under the SNAP program and created suggested shopping menus for better nutrition.
Out most obese citizens are in poor, rural counties where SNAP is abundant.
Make it similar to the WIC (Women and Infant Children) program.

If someone is truly hungry, they will be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to get food staples. If someone is lazy and just scamming the system, they are not grateful for anything. YES, IF YOU’RE A SCAMMER, I’M TALKING TO YOU!!!

SNAP should be run just like WIC. Let them only buy foods that are approved.

I can't help but look in the food cart of overweight people in the grocery store. Generally it is full of high sugar content drinks, cheese puffs like snacks and rarely any healthy food.
