A Viewer Writes: Why Doesn't Eastside and Westside Wicomico County Matter?

After seeing all the posts about National Night out. Why is there never anything on the Westside or Eastside of Wicomico County? Salisbury police can handle the one in Salisbury and Wicomico Sheriff and Maryland State Police could handle the ones in Eastside and Westside neighborhoods. I get tired of paying taxes and everything is in Salisbury. Free breakfasts, free lunches, free this and that but ONLY in Salisbury. It is not just about the free stuff. The kids in the other places need things to do as well. You can even live in Salisbury (and not in City limits) and have 24 hours EMS and Fire service. The rest of us have to share paramedics that have to wait for a driver before they respond. Someone needs to remind the County Executive and the County Council that people that live East and West Wicomico County DO VOTE!

How can you doubt it? Just ask WBOC. How many pieces have you seen about any place other than Salisbury and OC?

If you want the benefits of living in an incorporated municipality, that is your choice.

If you enjoy the relative freedoms of living in the county, you can make that choice instead.

Different costs, different laws, different freedoms.

I agree with all you said. The parks like we had as kids, at Dover dale, Shamrock Dr., In the park, are all gone. We had a person in charge. Each park had baseball bats, balls, badminton, best off playing box hockey was the favorite. It's sad. The city gives us one nice night out in the park. What about the rest of the summer.

I thought Night Out was for residents to be on their porch or lawns. Why to you need hot dogs or hugs to lure citizens out. I often grab my steel and chill on my poooch when weather is comfortable.

A friend of mine went to one of these events and said she will never do it again. She was so scared for herself and her kids she left after just a few minutes.

In the 60's and 70's a "night out" was any Summer evening when it wasn't storming.

Turn off the electronics and go outside. Try not to take the Shores' beauty for granted - enjoy it in the short time you have.

I want my FREE stuff. I don't get my FREE stuff.

10:12 am I remember those parks, mine was Woodcock! The problem was some moronic kids thought it was a neat idea to break into the boxes and steal the equipment and what they did not take they destroyed. It became too costly to maintain. I enjoyed going to Woodcock park and making gymp wrist bands, pot holders for mom and trivets out of small tiles but the morons ruined it!

How could you get scared to be at this event in the park? There were at least 50 officers there, all with weapons attached at the hip. Most of the people volunteering were the police themselves. The park was the safest it could be.

Just like how the news only talks about the 3 high schools in Wicomico County. Hello - Mardela has a high school.

Skip the Eastside... We don't need or want any of your gang activities...
