BERLIN – Berlin Fire Company officials are eager to share the organization’s funding needs with town leaders before a final budget for the coming year is approved.
During the public comment portion of Monday’s town council meeting, Berlin Fire Company (BFC) President David Fitzgerald said he wanted to present spreadsheets detailing the fire company’s financial situation before the council adopted the fiscal year 2018 budget in June.
“That may change your mind on some of the budget allocations,” Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald said he was shocked to read Mayor Gee William’s comments in a local newspaper last week regarding the BFC’s failure to attend the town’s April 24 budget work session. Fitzgerald said fire company officials had been prepared to attend but noticed the BFC was not listed on the meeting’s agenda. He said when he contacted Town Administrator Laura Allen, she told him the BFC was not on the agenda because the independent audit the town mandated had not been completed.

Get rid of Fitzgerald. He has cost you enough money already. He has failed at every job he has had.
Wasn't that why he left the humane society someone found out he was stealing money,but instead of jail time just forced to resign,good old boy network at its finest,just inmage how many donations the humane society would get if that story broke wide open
Really do not think the man could steal any money they have a top local independent CPA company audit the till annually.
And what about the fact that they still have two asst. chief that started all this problems years ago, still as chiefs.
The most irresponsible fire company on the shore. The Council and citizens haven't forgot your thievery and antics. Trimble's, Fitzgerald's, Holloway's have ruined a once great organisation.
That's thier arrogance, or is it stupidity.
The BFC has gotten by just fine on the reduced amount that the Town has funded. All they want is more money to piss away on new trucks they don't need. Has anyone told them fire calls are WAY down, why do they need MORE equipment. 2nd thing is, thier starving for personel to staff what they have now. What a joke.
Money? Maybe they should work on manpower! They can't even handle single calls in the town limits without calling in two other Departments. That's a fact. The only thing Gee Williams ever did right was tighten this boys club up.
And let's build a new firehouse on route 50 when we can't staff one. Their pathetic, losers as Trump would say.
The clampetts from Berlin strike again. Please Mr Williams, give us some more money, we won't discriminate any more, or act like a bunch of dumb asses, promise :)
