Oakland Mills HS Students Stage Walkout Over Racial Tensions

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Students at Oakland Mills High School held a protest Wednesday over how administrators handled a racist social media post.

Some say they’re scared and want more information about whether the student who made the post will be allowed back on campus.

The Howard County superintendent says the law prohibits her from revealing the student’s punishment but that it’s important for students to stand up against racism after several incidents across Howard County this year.

Student demonstrators live-streamed the walk out at the high school in Columbia. Saying they felt threatened after a fellow student posted a message using the n-word online. They demanded transparency about whether he would be allowed back in class.

These same students attack people of other races because they can. Walk out and don't go back you're nothing but disruptive.

Gee if I left school grounds without permission, no matter why, it was automatic 3 day suspension. If they want to protest someones right to free speech then do it on their time! Aren't these the same school districts fighting the after labor day school start because there won't be enough class room days, these acts of defiance aren't taking away from those same days of instruction? Sure they have a right to protest but not to disrupt the education of others who want to learn and not be the 'right speak' police!

Yet they don't complain when the N word is used in rap music as the same music encourages killing cops. Give me a break and grow up. Next thing they will insist that Snow White is racist.

WOW,if they are hurt so badly because somebody used a word, they are really gonna be screwed when they get out in the real world.

1107 can you tell us again where you found the identity and criminal record of these students?

Remember this in the 60s? History repeats itself. I left school until I felt that it was safe to go back. The school had state troopers in the halls the next day.

Please white boys, stop taking the crap from this low life. Beat the dog outta them and don't let them hold back students from getting the education desired. That is why it is a learning institution, not a play room or bar. Turn on them and they will run or get their ass beat the good old fashion way.
