A Viewer Writes: Islamic Art Update

Update....

Islamic Art Design changed to Middle Eastern Art project. My daughter said the teacher wasn't happy and was crying in class about having to change it.

Someone needs to tell this teacher, it's Pi not PIE. She should cry.

Really? Boo Hoo. What the teachers name?

Too bad, teach. From the guidelines the students will have an opportunity to learn what to me is the more important part: the use of geometry in the design and how the artist is expressing his understanding of the world via the design. In turn art, in particular public and religious art, influences our understanding of many of our core values. It's interesting, worth studying and can be done without proselytizing the students.

Oh no! I just noticed that about PIE (should be PI) and 3.14 x r x 2 (should be 3.14 x (r x r)) for the circumference. How lazy is this teacher?

The teacher needs to go.

The teacher should be enraged. Are they studying art that is Islamic? Then it shouldn't be changed to "Middle Eastern". The teacher should be just as egregiously enraged if Christian inspired works of art were labeled differently as to not offend.

Post this treasonous teachers name.

How about Christian art.

And, "r squared" is not r x 2, it's r x r.

We need this teacher fired now.

10:02 go back to Iran.

Obviously not qualified to teach basics like math!

While I agree that PIE instead of Pi is rather sad, the circumference of a circle is Pi x diameter. Diameter is twice the radius, thus r x 2.

Poor bleeding heart liberal had to cry, I wonder how many tears were shed for the Christians slaughtered by these animals/pigs.

9:53 you are correct it is rx2. This teacher needs to keep her religion to herself. If she can not handle that Detroit is the new home base for Moooooooooooooooooooslims push their agenda. Thanks to Ohblahblah.

She pulled the two Muslim students out of the class into the hallway and had some sort of discussion with them. Upon returning to class she was telling them how sorry she was this was happening to them.
Im sure the teacher is reading this, you know who you are. I know you think that its ok to do assignments like this, but it is not. With the state of the world and Islamic terrorists waiting to kill you and me, how could you possibly think this would go over well????

11:31 You are in no more danger of an "islamist" terrorist as you are a "christian" terrorist. Actually, the latter probably has higher odds.

11:31 There were no critical thinking skills involved by the teacher. This should have been revised to a more neutral theme. I call bullshit on the "oh it was teaching how to draw" excuse.

How about a nice art project of drawing Muhammond in a bomb vest? Like he really is.

11:31 I love you. Thank you for posting how most parents feel about this.

11:43 LOL, now that would be more accurate.

My mistake. The area of a circle is Pi*r-squared. The circumference is 2*Pi*r. I shouldn't have jumped on the teacher for fact checking when I didn't do it, either.

I never mentioned Christianity. I never mentioned any other religion.

But now that you mention it....when was the last time you saw any organized Christian terrorist organizations? I dont see ANY Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, or even Satanist groups running around trying to kill throngs of people in the name of their religion.
