I'll Bet You Never Knew This Existed: Maryland Citizens Response Teams

The Maryland Citizens Response Team was born in early 2013 with a chance meeting of concerned and active patriots from Wicomico and Queen Anne Counties. These two groups began the journey that is now fast becoming a state wide network of men, women and families who are commited to the cause of liberty and the betterment of community and state.

Having already formulated many of the adopted standards, requirements and protocols the Wicomico County group which had named itself WCRT offered up the standards and the acronym CRT as a universal identifier for those groups who stand in solidarity and hold to the same standards. The Queen Anne County group who, offered up it's enthusiasm, recruiting ability and training resources, gladly accepted and the network had begun.

Members of these two groups had come from different backgrounds and acquired various expertises in their fields, all were willing to share with the collective group. Their purpose was to not only learn from each other, but rather to elevate the combined knowledge of everyone while offering their new skills to assist their community in times of need. Many things have happened for CRT since then and we have grown into a substantial network of individuals, communities and counties all while learning to work together as a team.

As the network has grown, the coverage for communities has expanded to multiple hubs of CRTs. As of mid-2015 there are solid groups in Queen Anne, Wicomico, Cecil, Prince George's and Anne Arundel Counties, as well as efforts in Carroll, Frederick, Charles, and very soon Washington Counties.

Mission Statement

An informal, non-political volunteer organization of multi-skilled individuals who are committed to helping their community (and others if deemed necessary) in times of need.

We hold a strong belief in the inalienable rights of humanity and the necessity of community connection for the protection of those rights.

We stand ready to serve in either primary or supportive roles in the event of any emergency.

We stand ready to provide a common defense against any acts of aggression against the citizenry.

We are dedicated to promoting and supporting a community of civic and personal responsibility.

We believe that MDCRT is an appropriate and lawful entity for the defense of our lives, our liberties, and our reasonable pursuits of happiness.

While I respect the ideals and goals of this organization, the fact that most members come from the public sector gives me cause for suspicion.

There are many like-minded individuals ready and willing to do what it takes to defend the constitution that would rather maintain OPSEC.

I applaud your group, but trusting the motives of some members is another thing entirely.

You say that it concerns you that members are from the public sector-where should they come from ?Aren't groups like this supposed to consist of the public citizens ? You talk about OPSEC,but how do you get the rest of the citizens involved,or do you want just your own group of friends involved and to hell with the rest of the citizens ? How can you say you don't trust members of this group if you don't know them or train with them ? I'm glad to see a group like this is around, ready and willing to help the citizens of our state, not hiding in the shadows, thus giving people the wrong impression.

Where is the "information" saying that members are from the public sector?

Anonymous said...

Good point! To me public sector means government.

Interesting thought. When I replied to him,I took public as meaning the public citizens.

Great group. I know some of the Wicomico guys. Solid group of patriots. Not a militia - a group of everyday people who train to step up and defend fellow citizens. If a natural disaster ever came about they would be there to help

To me this sounds like a community welcome wagon in which not only does one participate in pot luck dinners but safety, security and patriotism.

And they are all grass roots within our local communities? What's not to like about that?

As a vet I say HOOAHH and long live the republic.

Kudos CRT!

A community grass roots group that provides help, security and safety to its neighbors?

As a veteran and constitutionalist what's not to like? Sounds to me like these founders are selfless men.

Kudos CRT!!!!

You should be careful. According to MD state constitution, unauthorized militias are illegal in MD. There is a state militia, but it is strictly support-doctors,lawyers,etc.

Even better reason to have our own militia! 6:30,in order to achieve greatness, one needs to stop asking permission!
I will volunteer. Come on board with me.

We're not a militia. Just a group of citizens just like you who train to respond to emergencies of all types to help fellow citizen. We will help law enforcement if they request it. We have no desire to do anything illegal. We don't even have members who are criminals. Read the website. Get involved.

Hot air you say...?
Come out for cold weather training this Saturday in QA county or join us for the 6 state 3 day FTX in February. Or if you can only spare a day for investigation come on out to our range day and inter county CRT competition at Delmarva Sporting Clays...
Whichever you choose I'm sure you'll find we are much more than just hot air.

10:57 you say you have no members who are criminals but then you also say you will assist the very criminals who are paid by our taxes to to rob us of our liberty and property and God given rights! Good luck playing nice with them!
When the shtf they'll treat you just like they do everyone who isn't one of them!

I'm not sure where you are twisting that info from... If you are referring to helping with first responders and our local sheriff's department I will remind you that the sheriff is actually the only true constitutional based position left in these several states.

We obviously would not assist in the revocation of liberty or rights.

We will however help in times of natural disaster and/or any threat to the safety and security of our community.
