The Donald Hints He Won't Run As Independent

Donald Trump hinted Sunday that even if he fails to win the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, he likely won't run as a third-party candidate.

Once considered a long-shot candidate, the real estate mogul has risen in early primary polls. Many Republicans have voiced their concerns that if he doesn't win the GOP nomination, he might run as an independent — something he hadn't yet ruled out.

However in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper broadcast Sunday, Trump said running as a third-party presidential candidate only benefits the Democrats.

"Everybody asks me to do it. ... And I think ... I'd get a lot of votes," he said. "But the best way of defeating the Democrats, and probably Hillary — I think it's going to be Hillary — is to run as a Republican."

"If I do the third party thing it would be I think very bad for the Republicans," Trump added. "I think it would be very bad in terms of beating the Democrats. And we have to win."

This is actually a good thing! What it means is that whoever gets the nomination will get his support - as long as it means beating the dumbocrats!

As an independant he would indeed get a lot of votes, but the Electoral College likes calling the shots. That would not be an option with DT and they know it.

Sometimes I worry that these elections are somehow "fixed". I was so surprised when Obama was elected for his second term. I just couldn't believe it, with the unhappiness and disgust people expressed during his first term in office.

If the nominee is Bush there is no way Trump will back him. I think this whole idea of running is a vendetta against Jeb Bush.

12:41 Perhaps maybe he is sick of whats happening to this country and wants to do something about without worrying about offending somebody. Could that maybe be possible in todays politically correct world?

Bet Trump is filming a reality show, behind the scenes, of all this and will sell it to the highest bidder after he drops out.
