Reported Building fire on East Church Street this afternoon. Station 2, 16 and 1 was dispatched. Only the paid fire engine crew from Station 16 responded. The volunteers were no where to be found. Neither were the volunteers from Station 2, their primary fire district. Station 1 got 2 fire trucks out. Also responding were Assistant Chief 1, Assistant Chief 2 and Deputy Chief 2. Not sure if Deputy Chief 1 or Chief 1 responded. It's a shame that there were at least 4 SUV Chiefs vehicles responding and neither one of them would fight fire if needed. What a Waste.
Rick Hoppes and John Tull should be ran out of town for allowing the volatile situation with not having enough volunteer staffing when the entire county volunteers easily have staffing for their fires on Sunday afternoons. Maybe it's time to use the volunteers from the county on the initial dispatch until a real chief gets these problems under control. Unfortunately we may have to wait for a new Mayor.
