Maryland Democrats, demoralized by their party’s losses in November, have found a rallying cry: protect education spending.
Senior members of the House and the Senate joined the state’s largest teachers union at its headquarters in Annapolis on Tuesday to protest a budget proposal by Gov. Larry Hogan (R) that would curb planned funding of k-12 education in the coming fiscal year.
“It is important for us never to cut back on our commitment to education,” House Speaker Michael E. Busch (D-Anne Arundel) said at the packed event, at which the Maryland State Education Association unveiled a Web site where parents can see the potential impact of Hogan’s proposals on classrooms in their county.
Prince George’s County, for example, would get $6,909.92 less per classroom next year than expected, according to the Web site, which features a play on Hogan’s “Change Maryland” campaign slogan. The altered version: Don’t Shortchange Maryland.

The socialist most highly-educated among us demand more and more funding in an environment of unsustainable debts and deficits - no wonder they support Common Core math.
State employees also lost a 2% percent raise were were supposed to have been given. Haven't had an increase for over 6 years. I'm not complaining because I am grateful to still have my job and to have O'Malley out of office!!!!
Guess they didn't read the article where it's explained that the cuts are not what's already been appropriated, but CUTS IN THE PROPOSED INCREASES IN SPENDING. Get it together, IDIOTS! (Once a dem, always an idiot!)
All cuts must be on the table for Hogan to consider. Its time to send these tax and spend knuckleheads packing. Hogan won because of his fiscal conservatism.
If everyone only knew how much money the MSEA employees made they would be shocked. If the libtards want to spend more money they should donate

Dear Readers,
Having reviewed this issue in full with regards to the Governors' budget decisions, I fully expect that the Democrat will pool resources with regard to this. Mind you, this is less of the education support that they will tout, but more a striking point to further other issues. I for one know better, and while I believe that the hard working employees of this county do indeed deserve a raise ( and not just the teachers mind you - all would like a raise, both public and private sector), this is not foremost on the mind of Governor Hogan. I think the gentleman believes this as well, however he has a larger constituency to consider along with the welfare of the best interests of all in the state. I, for one, applaud his efforts and additionally would encourage the MSTA and MSDE to consider the repercussions of their advocacy during this time of rebuilding.
Regards,
Paladin
MSEA is run by nothing but a bunch of criminals. Teachers in Wicomico should have gone independent last year when they had the chance but they are too stupid to see the truth. They really think those money grubbing union officials are helping them but they are not. Teachers are so dumb they will believe any lie that comes out of MSEA's mouth. Keep believing those lies teachers while the MSEA takes your $600 every year!
2:09, in 2008, I was making $60k and had health insurance that I paid a $20 copay on for all and $5 scrips.
I now make about $12k working without any insurance because I'm overpaid to get it from Medicaid.
So, I can either lose my house, or I can lose my house.
And you bitch about your "2% raise"m you didn't get?
I'll trade you...
It doesn't matter how much they get per student because money doesn't make students learn. The bottom line is these bottom feeders are sore losers. Anyone with fiscal sense knows that to much money is pored into education and the whiners really want the money for their fat pay checks.
Have they forgotten that the people have spoken and this is exactly why we voted for Hogan and other Republicans. Why didn't you idiots vote out Mike Miller and Michael Busch. Didn't the Republican Party even put someone up against those two.
By the way does the name Norman Conway ring a bell?
