Tense moments in Texas Capitol when open carry advocates confront Dem lawmaker

While it’s debatable just how much it helps their cause, some open carry advocates in Texas continue to pursue aggressive tactics in support of the right to bear arms — much to the chagrin of at least one Democratic state lawmaker.

Members of the group Open Carry Tarrant County were in the Texas Capitol on Tuesday advocating for a bill that would undo a 125-year ban on the open carry of handguns when they visited the office of state Rep. Poncho Nevarez, D-Eagle Pass, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Group leader Kory Watkins recorded the visit, posting it on Facebook and YouTube.

As can be seen in the video, things quickly became tense when the activists start calling Nevarez “a tyrant to the Constitution.”
